Qaushiq Mukherjee, credited as Q, was born in Kolkata in 1973 and works in Bengali, Hindi and English. His second feature, the black-and-white Gandu (2010), went unreleased in India and became an official selection at the 2011 Berlin International Film Festival. He followed it with the Tagore adaptation Tasher Desh and the horror film Ludo. He belongs on a canonical list for rupture rather than for awards.
