Pradipta Bhattacharyya, born in Berhampore, West Bengal, graduated in film editing from Roopkala Kendro and teaches editing at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. His debut feature, the surreal mock-documentary Bakita Byaktigato (2013) — in which an amateur filmmaker searches for a village where everyone is said to find true love — won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali.
