Nasiruddin Yousuff (b. 1950) fought in the 1971 Liberation War and co-founded Dhaka Theatre with the playwright Selim Al Deen in 1973, becoming central to Bangladesh’s post-independence theatre movement before turning to film. Guerrilla (2011), adapted from Syed Shamsul Haq’s novel about a woman working in the resistance, won him the National Film Award for Best Director and swept ten categories.
