Morshedul Islam (b. 1958) emerged from Bangladesh’s 1980s short-film movement, which built a production and exhibition circuit outside the commercial studios. His short Agami (1984) and the feature Chaka (1993), adapted from Selim Al Deen, established that circuit’s international profile. He also works in children’s cinema, notably Dipu Number Two.
