Kamar Ahmad Simon, an architect by training, works in a hybrid documentary register that stages real lives with the rhythm of fiction. Are You Listening! (2012), following a coastal family after Cyclone Aila, won the Grand Prix at Cinéma du Réel in Paris; its sequel Day After… premiered in IDFA’s International Competition in 2021. His work forms a loosely linked Water Trilogy.
