Azmeri Haque Badhon (b. 1983) qualified as a dentist and worked in Bangladeshi television for over a decade before taking the title role in Abdullah Mohammad Saad’s Rehana Maryam Noor (2021), the first Bangladeshi film officially selected for Cannes’ Un Certain Regard. Her performance as a medical-college teacher pursuing an assault complaint won her Bangladesh’s National Film Award for Best Actress and the Asia Pacific Screen Award.
